The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Foundation honored its distinguished donors at an evening reception on Thursday, October 20 at Le Pavillon in Parc Lafayette.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Foundation’s annual reception celebrates all donors who have contributed $10,000 or more to the University and formally recognizes the businesses, alumni and friends generously gifting $50,000 or more or pledged $100,000 or more in support of the University’s academic and athletics programs. Donors of five endowments and 23 gifts offering timely operational support and capital project enhancements are recognized this year.

Additional matching opportunities available through the Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund allow for funds raised to be matched by the state for endowed first generation scholarships and professorships. As an example, for every gift of $60,000 UL Lafayette receives for an endowed scholarship, or professorship, the state matches $40,000, bringing each endowment to $100,000.

The principal from the endowment remains in a perpetual fund that is invested while earned income is distributed for student scholarships, professor salaries, research supplements or other designated programs. To date, the Foundation’s endowment is at $148 million and total assets are valued at $178 million.

Dr. Julie Bolton Falgout, Foundation President/CEO, says the Distinguished Donors play an integral role in the overall support of the Foundation’s mission, providing generous financial contributions towards academic and athletic programs, capital improvements, faculty, and student scholarships. “The endowments and operational and capital support continues to grow each year. This year is no exception - we have amazingly generous donors.  This speaks volumes to their commitment to higher education and we are truly grateful for their continued support."
